Every rate, and how old it is

Every figure on this site comes from somewhere and goes out of date on a schedule. This page says where each one came from, when it next moves, and whether what is held here is still current.

Ages on this page are calculated as of 2026-09-05, the date it was published. If that is well behind today, read every "current" below as "current then".

4 current · 0 due · 0 stale · 3 age unknown · 8 not held

A stale figure is not hidden and it is not quietly corrected. It stays on the page with its age attached, because the alternative — a number that looks the same whether it is right or four years old — is how people get hurt by a site like this.

What the states mean

  • Current — the figures held are for the period we are in.
  • Due for refresh — the publishing date has passed and a newer set exists or is imminent. Figures are close but may be a year behind.
  • Stale — more than a full period behind. Treat anything derived from it as indicative, and check the source before acting.
  • Age unknown — the figures are held and in use, but no effective date was recorded for them, so nothing here can say how old they are. This used to be reported as "Current", which described the least known figure on the page in the most reassuring terms available.
  • Not held — either not yet ingested, or it could not be confirmed to a primary source at all. Declared as a gap rather than quietly omitted, so you can see what is missing.

Why this page exists

Almost every site in this subject prints figures with no date and no source. That is not usually dishonesty — it is that nobody notices when a number goes out of date, because nothing about the page changes when it does. A pension estimate built on four-year-old pay tables renders exactly as confidently as one built on this morning's.

So the age is computed rather than remembered, it is published rather than kept internal, and a figure that has aged says so on the page it appears on. If something here is stale, that is a real limitation of this site and you are entitled to know it before you rely on the number.
